Grax Scanner Privacy Policy
This policy explains how Graxana Software Inc. handles information in the Grax Scanner mobile application and its live product-analysis service.
No account required
Grax Scanner does not require a Graxana account. Saved reports, favourites, follow-up answers and settings remain in local application storage until the user clears them or uninstalls the app.
Information sent for live analysis
- Barcode, selected analysis profile, device locale and a random installation identifier
- A user-selected label or package photo when label-photo analysis is requested
- The selected follow-up question and relevant product/report context
The random installation identifier helps apply safety and abuse controls. It is not an advertising identifier and is not tied to a Graxana account.
Camera use
Barcode camera frames are processed by Google ML Kit on the device and are not uploaded merely to recognize a barcode. A photo is transmitted only when the user deliberately chooses label-photo analysis and submits that image.
How live requests are processed
The Graxana API retrieves supported public catalogue information and may send product facts, question context or a submitted label photo to OpenAI to generate the requested structured educational response. Label-photo requests are configured with OpenAI response storage disabled.
Third-party services
- Open Facts services provide public product catalogue and label information.
- OpenAI processes structured analysis and user-requested label photos or follow-up questions.
- Google ML Kit performs on-device Android barcode recognition.
- Hosting and network providers may process limited technical records needed to deliver and protect the API.
Technical logs and security
Infrastructure may record limited technical information such as request time, IP address, endpoint, status, user agent and error identifiers for security, reliability and abuse prevention. Graxana does not intentionally place submitted label-photo content in application error logs.
Health and construction information
The app does not request a medical profile, medication list or condition history. Users should not photograph prescriptions, patient labels, personal documents or confidential jobsite records. Results are educational and do not provide diagnosis, treatment, engineering approval, trade certification or code-compliance verification.
Advertising and analytics
The current release does not include an advertising SDK, behavioural advertising or a third-party analytics SDK.
Retention and deletion
Local history remains until the user clears app data or uninstalls the app. The Graxana API does not maintain a user account or permanent scan-history database. Technical logs are retained only as reasonably necessary for security and operations. See the data deletion instructions.
Children
Grax Scanner is intended for adults and young adults and is not directed to children under 13.
Changes
We may update this policy as the app, providers or processing practices change. The effective date and store declarations will be updated before a material change is released.
